My first memory of K’ Rd is going to Rendalls and George Courts as a kid with my mum to get clothes. I remember always skating along K’ Rd to get to the city or home from the city, seeing all the interesting people, the dodgy people and strip clubs. The McDonalds and kids birthday parties there, hanging in Stirling Sports looking at the skateboards and Vans Madrid Fly shoes. Then hanging at the the old clubs, the drum n bass scene, working washing dishes at Verona and drinking there every night (and in the day) after skating Aotea square. Eating bakery food on the Myers Park stairs. Now I don't live in the city I spend a lot less time there. But i'm always getting that 50 cent bus to K’ Rd to skate down again, I sporadically run into the poet Dave Merrit and stop for a chat. It's changed a lot over the years and so have I, but it's probably my favorite part of the city to hang, it's still got a bit of the grimey feel and the most culture in Auckland city.
If K’ Rd were a person it would be Chey Ataria. He is the king of K’ Rd.
I don’t think the way I feel about K’ Rd has changed. It’s still the same but updated for 2019. Oh and Margaret is gone.

My first memory of K’ Rd is the George court building, the elevator and the elevator man, and its Candy Shop.
It has been my home since 2006, Its still my home and for the 2nd time its where my business is.
The most memorable and remarkable thing for me about K’ Rd is the people, the community, the good times.
The way I feel about K’ Rd hasn’t changed, its still home.
If K’ Rd were a person they’d be rough around the edges with a heart of gold.

My first memory of K’ Rd is being driven down the road as a country kid visiting the big smoke and seeing the Las Vegas girl sign.
Its changed a lot, as an art student in the 90's it was where we'd go for cafes and inspiration. As a juggler in the 00's it was where we worked (kind of) and hung out every week day at the juggling shop Balloonski and St Kevin’s Arcade. In later years as its cleaned up so have I, so now its more of a place to just visit every now and again" is how that sentence should read.
The more memorable things for me are Balloonski Juggling Nights in St Kevin's Arcade in the early 2000's. Monday nights we'd have up to 50 people all through the Arcade and down in to Myers Park, it was loose! That was the Golden Era of K’ Rd for me...
On the question of if K’ Rd has changed I’d say yeah for sure, its a little more crazy and a lot more gentrified!
If K’ Rd were a person it’d be an ageing drag queen in a new(ish) coat.

Oh god my memory is shit. I really cannot remember my first memory of K’ Rd. Maybe the cemetery on the corner..
I used to visit and work here occasionally. I pretty much live here now as I work at Vixen, Whammy and The Wine Cellar with connections & friends along the street.
There’s far too many memorable moments to mention but the time Rackets played on the roof top awning for some event where the street was closed was pretty cool. Also spending countless nights with friends in our old store Naked Empire.
If K’ Rd were a person they’d be loud, vibrant and tough.

My first memory of K’ Rd is McDonalds midnight missions after skating in the city all night.
My relationship with K’ Rd was more of a night time one back in the day!! Now it’s my day time... social vs practical! It was a place to hang and party and now it’s a place where I work...
One of the most memorable things about K’ Rd for me is Verona back in the days... finish work at Cheapskate’s, skate to Verona, have a beer, skate down to the square... hang in city till late. Then back to Verona for some more beers! Repeat again next day.
My feelings towards K’ Rd are still the same. I’m just paying more attention now so I see things I didn’t back then.. when you stare at it for more than 10 hours a day you notice more than you did!
If K’ Rd were a person I’d describe them as that eccentric alternative cousin from the dysfunctional side of the family that’s trying to turn their life around, but slips back into some old bad habits.

My relationship with K’ Rd is centred around it’s great creative community with a vibrant lively culture, this has developed over the years in an evolving environment.
Out of many memorable times on Karangahape Road, one was seeing Johnny Osbourne play on stage in middle of the road when it was closed for a street party.
Has the way I feel about K’ Rd changed? Yes and no.
If K’ Rd were a person they would be the good, the bad and the ugly.

My first memory of K’ Rd is of walking through it in the night.
My relationship with K’ Rd has matured. K’ Road pays my bills now.
Working at the camera shop, talking to people, this creates memorable K’ Rd experiences.
The way I feel about K’ Rd hasn’t changed because I feel like the road itself will always change.
If K’ Rd were a person it’d be an interesting old man, or woman.

My earliest memory of K’ Rd is of having breakfast with a friend in the morning.
My relationship with K’ Rd is like having an interesting friend. Having lots of fun, and great memories.
A memorable K’ Rd moment was when I stepped in someone else’s vomit when I was out one night.
The way I feel about K’ Rd hasn’t really changed. I just came to NZ 2 years ago and K’ Rd always seems funny and relaxing all the time.
If K’ Rd were a person they’d be very talented and always wearing colourful vintage outfits.

My first memory of K’ Rd was late 80s early 90s, driving home from Christmas In The Park as a kid and it being so vibrant and busy. Traffic stopped long enough to get a glimpse of the parlour signs and party people.
Generations of Karangahape Road people change every 3 months and return every 3years. It's always been a place to go to make stuff happen and connect with people. When you've got nothing, you can go sit, wait. Something is bound to happen. The Artistic communities that build overtime or just one weekend keeps all the questionable nights ratio in check.
A memorable K’ Rd moment; one time a guy was hussling raw defrosting meatpacks freshly stolen from downtown. The plastic bag was dripping. I declined the offer.
Has the way I feel about K’ Rd changed? Everybody changes, if you're the same person you were ten years ago you're not growing. We are all just passing through.
If K’ Rd were a person they’d be full of potential, realised or squanded. Self destructive tendencies but fashionable.
